Both David Crowley and Oli Bennett – now Socket Consulting's directors – worked on this project. David worked for the Main Contractor, Carillion and undertook project management. Oli was employed by King’s Cross’ developer, Argent and took on development management responsibilities for the project. Gasholder Park provides the immediate context for the iconic Gasholder apartment complex at King’s Cross. And integrating the landscaping with the heritage structures was key to the project’s success. Gas Holder Park continued the high-quality planting which is a feature of the King’s Cross regeneration as a whole, with particular focus on planting providing year-round interest. Extensive works were undertaken to upgrade the canal towpath – owned by the Canal and River Trust and containing 11kV and trunk fibre optics cables– providing a strong connection between Gasholder Park and the canal locks to the west.
