Both David Crowley and Oli Bennett – now Socket Consulting's directors – worked on this project. David worked for the Main Contractor, Bam Nuttall and undertook project management. Oli was employed by King’s Cross’ developer, Argent and took on development management responsibilities for the project. Granary Square is the centrepiece of the King’s Cross redevelopment. A large civic space with seating-steps down to the Regent’s Canal and an innovative 1,000+jet programmable fountain. The square is also capable of being used as an event space, adding another layer of complexity to the project. As one of the earliest pieces of King’s Cross to be completed, there was an emphasis on setting a high standard of delivery and over 10 years later Granary Square is still seen as setting the standard for public realm delivery.
